WELCOME TO THE MOSQUITO COAST

“Similar to a Cognac barrel, each coconut is converted into a cask. It is inside these coconuts that we age Coco Licor.”

Rising above the usual morning sounds is the chorus of a dozen sharpening knives. These long blades are made of hardened steel shards flattened and sharpened just enough to scrape, but not to cut. They are instrumental in converting the dehusked coconuts into coconut casks.

With their husks already removed during the harvest, what remains is a large rough shell. Each coconut is carved by hand until what remains is a smooth shell resembling an egg.

Similar to a cognac barrel, each coconut is filled, sealed and allowed to rest undisturbed in the dark until maturity. Our coconut casks are designed to accelerate the aging process.

Over time our high-proof blend gently teases out as much coconut flavor from the thick white flesh as is possible.

The goal of maturation is to remove harsh flavors from the raw spirit while adding distinct flavor characteristics found in the aging barrel
